Cherishing the freedom of voice

Every day you see stands full of these, and you see people reading them on the trains.  Newspapers!  A great symbol of freedom of speech in this nation.  Before you shoot me down with your technical “pea shooter” criticisms, consider the other side of the spectrum.  This from Payvand News, in Iran;

Developments in the past two weeks confirm that the Iranian government is continuing its relentless crackdown on the media. A journalist was arrested for the second time in a year and courts imposed or upheld jail sentences on two women journalists whose journalist husbands are already in prison.

Whole families are being raided in their homes and being sent to jail for printing their voice.  Do you cherish your freedom of voice here in America.  Do you exercise it?  You can in many ways.  I leave you with “honest” Abe;

Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms.  Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere.

– Abraham Lincoln, Sept. 11, 1858
